First released over 10 years ago by Steve Jackson Games, it has since become one of the more popular card games.
The goal of the game is to reach level 10 through various means, including killing monsters, stealing their loot, and backstabbing your buddies. Originally designed as a parody to loot and level obsessed RPG players that inevitably betray their parties to further their own goals, it has evolved to parody much much more in pop culture, from horror to scifi and everything in between. If you don't mind a game that breeds a bit of competitiveness and joins that with an awesome sense of humour, then you'll love this.
There are currently over 15 "flavours" with more on the way, including Star Munchkin, Cthulhu Munchkin, Zombie Munchkin, and many more.
Each comes with cards separated into "Doors" (which contains the monsters and curses), and "Treasures" (which contains the loot), and a D6 die. Many of the flavours also come with additional expansions and boosters.
The game also offers a lot of accessories on sale. Luckily these are all optional, and not owning them doesn't take much from the game. But they are cool, and each accessory adds to the game in interesting ways. While you could measure your level with a piece of paper, or your own D10, you could also purchase one of the lovely boards they have and a set of pawns. Accessories also often come with extra cards that you can shuffle into your game.
